What is UVC Germicidal Lamp

UVC radiation is a known disinfectant for air, water, and nonporous surfaces. Since long ago, UVC radiation has been used successfully to stop the spread of bacteria and viruses like tuberculosis. Because of this, UVC lamps are frequently referred to as “germicidal” lamps.

The SARS-Coronavirus, which is a distinct virus from the present SARS-CoV-2 virus, has been demonstrated to have its outer protein coating destroyed by UVC radiation. The virus is ultimately rendered inactive as a result of the destruction.

UV-C…

The Correct Way of
Application

A virus can only be rendered inactive by UVC radiation if it is exposed to it directly. However direct exposure of human skin and eyes to UVC radiation will cause painful eye damage and skin reactions that resemble burns. Therefore, we should not look directly at any UVC lamp source. (FDA on UV Lights and Lamps, 2021) All CES’s UVC technology application is built and designed by professionals in a way that it safe for use and not exposed to the UVC lamp directly. Therefore, convert and safe application by Engineering design is most crucial.

Variations of UVC lamps

There are many type of UV lamps in the market, to name a few: UVA & UVB lamps.
Both lamps are less effective if at all at inactivating the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. Only UVC with spectrum of 254nm is recognized by ASHRAE for sterilizing purposes. (ASHRAE, CHAPTER 17).

CES’s application on UV Lamps

CES’s uses only UVC lamps wavelength at 254nm. At lamp surface, it has an irradiance exceeding levels of 50,000 microwatts/cm2. According to the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). Exposure time to inactivate viruses for 6000 microwatts/cm2 of UV-C energy at the company has successfully engineered the air solution dilemma.
